10 POINT PEACE OF MIND INSPECTION
Regularly performing a full inspection on your machine is essential to ensure its longevity, performance, and safety.
The JBS Service Center 10 point peace of mind inspection helps identify any signs of wear and tear and take the necessary action(s) to maintain or replace the faulty components and keep you in action.
Floor Chain Inspection
- Look for any signs of wear and tear, such as rust, dents, or bent links. Inspect both sides of the chain for any signs of damage or deterioration.
Check the tension of the floor chain. It should be taut but not too tight, allowing for smooth operation. Inspect the chain’s lubrication looking for any signs of dry or excessively greased chain. Proper lubrication is essential for longevity and optimal performance. Check the chain’s alignment ensuring it is properly aligned with the sprockets. Misalignment can cause the chains to wear unevenly and lead to premature failure. Inspect the chain’s fasteners attaching the chain to the machine. Tighten or replace any loose or damaged fasteners as needed. Inspect the chain’s guides or guards to ensure they are not damaged, bent, or missing. These guides help protect the chain from foreign objects and debris. Inspect the chain for any signs of foreign objects, such as dirt, debris, or metal shavings. Remove any objects that may interfere with the chain’s operation. - Check the chain’s alignment with the floor surface. Misalignment can cause excessive wear and damage to the chain and floor.
Inspect the sprockets for any signs of damage or wear. Replace any worn or damaged sprockets to ensure the chain runs smoothly.
Drive Sprocket & Chain
Inspect sprockets for any signs of damage, such as bent teeth, visible cracks and/or any wear or pitting. If damaged or worn excessively, the sprocket may require replacement. - Inspect the chain for any signs of excessive wear, such as stretched links or broken links. The chain should have an even and consistent spacing between the links. Look for any damaged or loose links that may require replacement.
- Inspect chain tension adjusting as needed. The chain should run smoothly between the sprockets without excessive movement.
- Test the chain alignment. If the chain is out of line, it may require adjustment. Adjust the chain tension, if necessary, to align it properly.
- Clean and lubricate the drive sprocket and chain to remove any dirt, grease, or debris. Apply lubricant to the chain to help it run smoothly and prevent errosion.
Gearbox Oil
- Check the gearbox oil level using the sight glass. The oil level should be at the appropriate level indicated on sight glass (center of red dot). If the oil level is too low, add the appropriate amount of oil as specified in your product manual; located in the manual holder on the front of your machine.
Look for any contaminants such as dirt, debris, or metal particles in the gearbox oil. These contaminants can indicate a problem with the oil’s filtration system or a leak. Check the color and smell of the oil. A dark, discolored oil with a strong odor may indicate contamination or contamination. If the oil smells burnt or rancid, it needs to be replaced. - Examine the gearbox housing for any signs of leakage or damage. Look for any cracks, dents, or signs of corrosion. Any visible damage should be repaired or replaced as needed.
Tires
Look for any visible signs of damage, such as cuts, punctures, bulges, or uneven tread wear. Use a tire pressure gauge to check the inflation of the tires. Make sure they are inflated to the appropriate pressure as specified in your vehicle’s owner’s manual. Misaligned tires can cause premature wear and poor performance. Inspect the tires for any signs of misalignment, such as uneven tread wear or pulling to one side. Unbalanced tires can lead to vibrations and decreased vehicle stability. Inspect for uneven wear patterns, particularly on the inner or outer edges of the tires. Check the tread depth of your tires to ensure it meets the minimum legal requirement. If the tread depth is significantly worn down, consider replacing the tires.
Fluids
- Inspect fluid levels, color, and consistency. Looking for any signs of leaks, contamination, or debris.
Utilize appropriate testing equipment, such as pressure gauges or refractometers, to measure fluid levels, pressures, and viscosity. - Inspect and clean filters, if necessary. Ensure that filters are functioning properly and are free of any obstructions.
Suspension
- Look for any signs of damage or wear and tear to the various components of the suspension system. Look for leaks, cracks, or other visible signs of damage. Additionally, inspect the tires for uneven wear, cracks, or signs of uneven inflation.
Next, take your machine for a brief test drive to assess the condition of the suspension. Paying attention to any vibrations, noises, or unusual movements. Drive on different road surfaces, such as smooth highways, bumpy roads, and uneven terrain, to evaluate the performance of the suspension, if neccessary. - Use a tire pressure gauge to check the recommended tire pressure for your vehicle and inflate your tires accordingly.
- Inspect the shock absorbers for any signs of damage, such as fluid leaks, damage to the casing, or loose mounting bolts.
- Inspect the bushings for any signs of deterioration, cracking, or looseness. Worn or damaged bushings can affect the stability and handling of your vehicle.
- Inspect the ball joints for any signs of looseness, swelling, or excessive play. Worn or damaged ball joints can lead to alignment issues, excessive tire wear, and potential safety hazards.
- Inspect the control arms for any signs of damage, such as bent or corroded mounts, looseness, or excessive play in the joints. Bent or damaged control arms can affect steering alignment and stability.
- Inspect the springs for any sagging, bowing, or other signs of deterioration. Damaged springs can lead to uneven tire wear, excessive bouncing, and reduced vehicle stability.
- Inspect the tie rods and linkages for any signs of looseness, misalignment, or play in the joints. Worn or damaged tie rods and linkages can affect steering response and vehicle handling.
- Inspect the suspension mounts for any signs of damage, such as cracks, corrosion, or looseness. Damaged or loose suspension mounts can lead to vibrations and noises, as well as potential safety issues.
Hydraulic Components
- Visually inspect the hydraulic components for any signs of damage, wear, or malfunction. Look for any signs of leaking fluid, corrosion, loose connections, cracked hoses, or damaged seals.
Inspect the seals and gaskets for any damage or leaks. Check for any cracks, tears, or signs of hardening. Ensure that they are properly seated and in good condition. Inspect the hoses for any signs of deterioration, such as cracks, leaks, or abrasions. Ensure that the hoses are securely connected and are not twisted or kinked. Look for any signs of damage or wear on the hose ends as well. Inspect the fittings and connectors for any signs of damage, wear, or loose connections. Ensure that they are properly seated and in good condition. Look for any signs of corrosion or looseness. Inspect the cylinders and pistons for any signs of damage, wear, or leaks. Look for any signs of scoring, pitting, or excessive wear. Ensure that the piston seals and rod seal are in good condition. Inspect the valves for any signs of damage, wear, or leaks. Look for any signs of leakage, improper operation, or sticking. Ensure that the valve bodies are clean and free from debris. Inspect the pumps and motors for any signs of damage, wear, or leaks. Look for any signs of bearing wear, overheating, or excessive noise. Ensure that the motors are securely mounted and free from debris. Inspect the reservoirs and filters for any signs of damage, contamination, or leaks. Ensure that the reservoir is full and free from debris. Check the filter for any signs of blockage or contamination.
